Dane Bachiu Matterhorn Exploration

Dane Bachiu - BSc., P.Geo., CEO

Dane is a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan and holds his professional designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS), along with an active Permission to Consult. Dane comes with 14+ years working ‘in-field’ (~435 wells to date) handling a variety of responsibilities as a well-site geologist with a primary focus on horizontal well placement. Dane’s experience / expertise has been acquired through targeting many different clastic & carbonate oil reservoirs throughout Saskatchewan, such as; Viking, Bakken, Three Forks, Frobisher, Tilston, Lodgepole, Torquay, Ratcliffe ‘Oungre A Dolomite’, and Midale Marly / Vuggy formations. Dane also has international work experience (Australia), drilling exploratory vertical core holes exploiting coal-bed methane gas fields.

Carmen MacDonald Matterhorn Exploration

Carmen MacDonald - BSc., P.Geo.,

Senior Geologist

Carmen is a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan and holds her professional designation with APEGS along with 13+ years of well-site experience (~475 wells to date). Carmen’s experience / expertise has been acquired through targeting many different clastic & carbonate oil reservoirs within Saskatchewan, such as; Viking, Bakken, Taber Sand, Colony Sand, Spearfish (North Dakota), Frobisher, Tilston, Souris Valley, Torquay, and Midale Marly / Vuggy. Carmen upholds a strong professional presence with her diligence and focus on all aspects of the on-site drilling operation.

Zach Morrow-Pollock - MSc., GIT

Zach is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and is currently working towards his professional designation through APEGS. Before joining Matterhorn in 2023, he worked in the hard rock exploration industry for 2+ years and brings with him extensive experience in core/chip logging, data collection and cataloguing, as well as project management. As a wellsite geologist with Matterhorn, he has so far drilled exclusively horizontal wells targeting the clastic Viking reservoir in West-Central Saskatchewan (~30 wells to date). Zach is a highly dedicated person who pays attention to the details and is adept at applying new information quickly and efficiently in his work while on-site.

Matthew Kubin - Matterhorn Exploration

Matthew Kubin - BSc., GIT

Matt is a University of Saskatchewan graduate and comes with extensive drilling experience (17+) years as a well-site geologist where he gained vast exposure to many different drilling activities, such as; Vertical, Coring, Slant, Directional, and Horizontal drilling operations (~675 wells to date). Matt’s formation experience / exposure includes; Vertical - Upper White Specks, Milk River, Basal Belly River, Pakowski, Wabamun, Joli Fou, Lower Shaunavon, Paleozoic ERA; Coring - Upper Grand Rapids, Viking; Slant - Paleozoic ERA; Directional - Bow Island, Mississippian, Colony, Paleozoic ERA, Mannville, Wabamun, Shunda; Horizontal - Gilwood ‘B’ Member, Cummings, Upper / Lower Royce Porosity, Montney, Lower Grand Rapids ‘B’ Group, Lloyd, Lodgepole, Three Forks, Viking, Hamilton Lake Sandstone, Lower Banff, Bakken, Wabiska Member. Matt is a highly competent geologist and a well placement specialist who is focused on well placement precision.

Denny Helmuth - Bachelor of Geology

Denny is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and has 13+ years experience working as a wellsite geologist (~225 wells to date). Denny’s time as a wellsite geologist has taken him from northern British Columbia to southwestern Manitoba, CA. He is proficient in the skillset of geosteering horizontal wells in the Cardium, Montney, Three Forks, Shaunavon, and Viking formations. He has also taken on lead supervisor roles drilling / coring stratigraphic wells in the McMurry, Shaunavon, and Viking formations. Denny prides himself on communication and accountability with a strong understanding of both geo-steering and the importance of well placement.

 

Andrew May - Bachelor of Science

Andrew is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and has been working as a wellsite geologist for 10+ years (~215 wells to date), focused primarily on horizontal well placement. Andrews experience has been acquired through targeting many different clastic and carbonate reservoirs throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta including; Shaunavon (Upper A, B, C and Lower Units), Viking and McMurray (Strat and SAGD Production). Andrew is a great team player with strong communication and great attention to details.
